Studio
One designer has run this Austin studio since 2018, by choice, not by circumstance.
Yufemayi is a small design studio, not a shop with a pipeline of juniors. The person who sketches your mark is the person who answers the phone.
Who runs this
Yufemayi is an Austin design studio, run as one person's practice.
Yufemayi trades as yufemayi.com, based at 84 Mill Street, Unit B, Austin, Texas 47748. It is not a network, not a franchise of a bigger agency, and not a marketplace listing dressed up as a studio. It is a single design practice: one principal designer plus one part-time production hand who helps with file prep and print liaison on larger jobs. There is no account manager between you and the person doing the work.
What actually happens here
Logo marks, identity systems, project pages, and consultation — nothing else.
The studio designs logo marks delivered as vector outlines with an exact-value spec sheet, builds the visual identity system around a mark — type pairing, colour system, a nine-to-fourteen-page guideline document — and writes single-purpose project pages for a launch, a menu or a booking link. It also runs paid ninety-minute visual consultation sessions against work a client already has. It does not build full websites, does not manage social accounts, and does not run ad campaigns on a client's behalf; those are different trades and claiming otherwise would be a way to bill for work done badly.
This website is a different matter from client work: yufemayi.com itself runs paid advertising today, through Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta Ads, and receives paid clicks from all three. A visitor who arrives that way is covered in full by the privacy policy and the cookie statement — neither this page nor any other on the site claims that a platform has reviewed, approved or verified Yufemayi.
A stranger can check all of this against the services page and the two published case studies.
History
Since 2018, the same small scope, repeated on purpose.
The studio opened in 2018 after five years working inside a larger branding firm, doing the same identity work at ten times the headcount and roughly the same result for the client. The frustration was never the craft. It was the layer of process built on top of it — status meetings that existed to justify the meeting before them, brand books written for a boardroom rather than a print shop, revision rounds that kept running because nobody was willing to say a direction was already good. Yufemayi started as an experiment in cutting that layer out entirely, and it stayed small because the experiment worked.
Seven years in, the client list runs from a leather goods maker to a neighbourhood café to a handful of consultants who needed one clean project page rather than a rebuild. None of them got a five-direction pitch deck. All of them got two options and a designer who would tell them, on the call, which one was stronger and why.
The four-projects rule
Four projects at a time isn't a marketing line. It's a calendar limit.
One designer can hold four identity projects in their head at once without the work blurring together. A fifth gets a start date, not a squeeze. This is why a rush request sometimes gets a no even when the fee would be welcome — a rushed fifth project doesn't get worse for the studio, it gets worse for the client stuck in slot five. The part-time production hand takes file prep, print vendor calls and proof logistics off the designer's desk on the two largest jobs running at once, but never touches concept work. If the type pairing doesn't hold up set small in Word, that's on the studio, not on an assistant.
Booking follows the same logic. A new inquiry gets a start date attached to the current queue, stated plainly, rather than a vague "we'll fit you in." If the honest answer is a six-week wait, that's the answer given.
Working against something that already exists?
The visual consultation is built for exactly that — ninety minutes marked up against your current logo or identity, line by line, on paper.
